In this four-week class, students are introduced to materials and techniques for oil painting while laying a strong foundation for further artistic growth. We cover painting surfaces and brushes, as well as understanding how each tool affects the outcome of your work. Beginning with a limited palette of primary colors, students dive into the art of color mixing, learning to create satisfying and vibrant hues.
Review the basics of composition to build visual interest and balance in your paintings. By the end of the course, put your new skills into action using an indirect method to block in and refine your painting.
